Most of the software of this type has a very similar interface, which is a good thing as it makes life easier so if you’ve used one you can easily pick up on another.
The interface for Wondershare DVD Ripper Platinum is organized well, across the top are some drop down menus, but for the most part you don’t even need to worry about them, everything pertaining to your DVD and video is below.
There is a little help section as well that can be access by the top navigation bar, it gives you instructions on how to rip your DVD.
On the very bottom is a pop-up menu that will allow you to select the output format, most every portable format is represented along with standard desktop ones as well. One thing to note is that I didn’t see .AVI or Divx as one of the choice under common video, for me that’s a disappointment as I like to use it for all of my video files
We’re concerned with Windows Mobile Format and in that category we see four choices actually, the General Pocket PC is what I used for this review.
Put your DVD in your drive and navigate to it, then you’ll need to select which files you want to convert. It’s nice to be able to choose what to convert so you’re not converting the entire disc, we only really want just the movie.
Once you’ve selected your movie you can go in and make some adjustments if you wish via the ‘Settings’ option next to the output selection bar.
One thing cool about this program is that you can do a little editing to your movie before starting the process of conversion.
You can change the output size, and you’ll see a preview of how it looks:
You can also change effects like Brightness, Contrast and Saturation along with adding effects like Gray, Emboss, Negative and Old Film.
The last setting will allow you to watermark your movie, this can be very useful for your own creative works.
After you’re done changing things hit the Start button and off you go, you can watch the preview or not.
Looking at the Task Manager we see Wondershare does use quite a bit of my Quad Core CPU, 72% in this screenshot. That’s a plus there that it can utilize dual and quad core CPUs.
The time from hitting the start button to finish was 12:25 which is very fast, that time does not include editing etc, just the pure conversions process.
Wondershare is one of the fastest DVD ripping programs I’ve tested to date, but speed doesn’t mean much without a quality finished product.
The final file weighs in at almost 1gig in size, coming in at 905MB. That’s a big file, for me, with a 16gb card, that’s not a problem, but I can guess most of you out there do not have a 16gb card in their phones. So depending what else you’ve got on your card, you might not be able to fit many of this size file on your card to take with you.

Size issue aside the quality of the movie playing on my phone was excellent… I used a macro lens to take the following pictures, so you can see the pixels, but in reality with the motion you can’t see them. Very, very nice quality, audio and video are in sync just fine.

Wondershare DVD Ripper Platinum sells for $39, that’s a bit high compared to others out there, but if you consider all that it can do in addition to just converting to your phone it’s worth the cost.
The program works well, it’s fast and it’s very easy to use, and of course the final result is near DVD quality, what more could you ask for?!

The USB plug does not at present appear to be Micro USB, validating recent concerns by many about how Apple has not signed on to the Micro USB standard.
4. Voice isn't a new feature.
Remember last year when Apple included spoken menus on the iPod Nano? Then why are you calling the Shuffle the first MP3 player that talks to you? Also, technically there have been a few MP3 players for the vision impaired that have already pulled this off.
5. Battery Life Drop
Both the first- and second-generation versions of the iPod shuffle promised 12-hour battery life on a single charge, but the new iPod shuffle 3 drops down to 10 hours.

First of all - Install iTunes

Here comes another side-by-side comparison of Apple's iPhone 3G with RIM's BlackBerry Storm, which is considered as another iPhone Killer.
BlackBerry Storm is expected to be released some time in November exclusively by Verizon in the US and Vodafone in UK.

iPhone 3G = 5.5 x 2.4 x 0.48 inches

Storm = 155g

Unlike T-Mobile G1 that we have reviewed earlier, BlackBerry Storm "steals" the design and looks much like the iPhone 3G. However, it does not look as sleek as iPhone 3G. It's a little bit thicker (0.14inches more) and heavier (22g more) than iPhone 3G. And, surprisingly, BlackBerry Storm does not come with Wi-Fi support or they probably consider Verizon's 3G network is good enough.
BlackBerry Storm's screen is also a little bit smaller (3.2 inch) as compared to iPhone 3G (3.5 inch), however it sports a slightly higher resolution (460x360 pixels) than iPhone 3G (460x360 pixels).

Input Method
With the success of iPhone's multi-touch interface, touch is now the standard for any new smartphone. Like iPhone, Storm does not have physical slide-out keyboard and uses the screen as input, in fact its RIM's first smartphone to feature a touch screen. However, RIM highlights that the touch technology developed on Storm is somewhat different to other touch screen smartphone available. RIM refers its touch technology as "Clickable Screen". That means, when users press key on screen, they can actually feel the key pressed and release, just like you press the mouse button. They call it a game changing touch technology that makes on-screen keyboard more appealing.
Also, like T-Mobile G1, it will have built-in cut and paste capability across applications a feature missing from iPhone 3G.
Winner:Its difficult to call a winner on this one, until we get feedback from users on RIM's touch technology. We love iPhone 3G's revolutionary multi-touch interface.
Multimedia
Multimedia support is not the strong area of RIM smartphones, as they predominantly targets business users. Storm is developed with multiple support in mind to lure more casual users. Standard feature like music and video playback is included. A wide range of audio format (including MP3, AAC, WMA, etc) and video format (including MPEG4, WMV, etc). Storm also allows you to sync iTunes music files via BlackBerry Media Sync and has its own media software to manage your music.
iPhone 3G is the best iPod Apple has ever created. The music and video playback experience is awesome. And, Apple continues to update features like Genius Playlist into iPhone makes iPhone's multimedia support nearly unbeatable. With its seamless integration with iTunes Store, you can download songs wirelessly or sync it between desktop using iTunes. iPhone 3G also supports a wide range of music formats but only plays Quick Time video.
Winner: iPhone 3G
Camera & Video Recording
Apple did not upgrade the camera in iPhone 3G, its still a basic 2 megapixel camera while Storm comes with 3.2 megapixel camera and includes video recording capability. Storm also includes a flash and auto focus for its camera.
Winner: BlackBerry Storm
Modem Capability
iPhone 3G does not support tethering and Apple tends to ban any applications in App Store that adds this capability. The only option you have is to jailbreak the iPhone and use jailbreak apps such as PDANet, iPhoneModem etc. BlackBerry Storm, on the other hands, comes with tethering built-in.

Enterprise Feature
Apple has made quite a few strides to take market share from RIM in the enterprise area. iPhone 3G, with built-in support for Microsoft's ActiveSync protocol, lets enterprise users to access Microsoft Exchange's services. Also, it takes a great step forwards to support Cisco IPsec VPN, which is a standard in enterprise wireless security. Further, it incorporates a feature to let administrator to wipe data remotely, in case the iPhone is lost or stolen.
RIM is always the leader in enterprise wireless devices. Storm, by no means, continues to lead in this area. The enterprise support is outstanding that different security policies can be defined, such that administrator may enable or shutdown specific bluetooth profiles; and even, to disable its digital camera access.
Winner: BlackBerry Storm
To sum up, BlackBerry strikes a balance between business and causal use. It's, by far, the sleekest BlackBerry; which should help RIM lure causal customers.
Is it another iPhone killer? Its difficult to conclude. iPhone 3G and BlackBerry both come with some unique features that neither have and they are positioned differently in the market.
However, I still fail to understand the omission of Wi-Fi in BlackBerry Storm, its true that BlackBerry is targeted at the business users who use it primarily for email, but still it seems like a major disadvantage over iPhone 3G.
As a consumer device, iPhone will definitely win thanks to the iPod application, its Safari browser which is easily the most advanced web browser on a portable device which makes browsing the internet on the iPhone a treat and overall for its cool factor. But if you turn to some business-savvy users and enterprise, BlackBerry is still the de-facto choice.
RIM has also not disclosed the pricing or the official shipping date.

Surprisingly, it's got an innovative multi-touch UI (thanks to ClickThrough), runs on Verizon's EV-DO 3G network in the US, as well as any GSM HSPA 3G networks when abroad, so it's a true global smartphone.

| | Do not let the Hollywood marketing machine fool you. Yes Simon Pegg stars in Run Fatboy Run and yes he has cowriter credit on it, however, this is not a Pegg/Wright/Park production like Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, and “Spaced.” No this is a story from the warped mind of Michael Ian Black, he of “The State” fame. It appears from the “story by” credit to Black that maybe Pegg came in late with some tweaks and rewrites after he was cast. There is a bit of him on display—some British humor and the use of cyclical stunts to add some funny as an incident harkens back to earlier in the film—at the end, though, this is a different kind of comedy. While I won’t go as far as some reviews I’ve read that being a fan of Fuzz and Shaun means you will hate this, I can see where they are coming from. Not quite complete physical humor nor subtle rhetoric; this falls in a niche of most generic comedies coming down the pipeline. It has some fantastic parts, though, and I am a fan of Black’s work, so I will admit to having a smile for most of the duration. As long as you don’t expect genius, (or a cameo from Nick Frost), you should still have a fun time despite your comedic predilections.
The synopsis is that a common Joe, with low self-esteem, let the love of his life go due to a fit of nerves and self-loathing. Five years later and his life is at an all-time low, getting his son arrested, watching a successful American make the moves with his ex, having money problems, and just going through the motions of a life he has resigned himself to living. With all odds against him, Dennis, (Pegg), signs up for a Nike marathon to show that he’s not a quitter. Don’t let that tried and true gimmick to win back his love fool you; the race is actually a somewhat small part of the whole and serves as a springboard for more situations in which he can get into trouble with during training. I’ll admit that the broad comedy got old and was way too obvious, making me yearn for the humor I know Pegg is used to delivering, but I kept reminding myself that “Friend” Ross Gellar himself had the reins, so I took it for what it was. Sometimes a little crassness can be fun when used sparingly.
I would say that the film had heart, but those moments are too sentimental to really praise. The music has a tendency to swell and the script starts to pull at the heart-strings before fading back as a new joke emerges. If handled a bit more deftly this could have been a much better film because the makings are definitely there. Story threads like that of the son and his first crush during the time his mother is dating a new man are glossed over too easily, used for dramatic emphasis in the life of our lead rather than a way to flesh out the characters around him. With so many supporting roles, I wish we’d have been given more of a complete story instead of using them as props to have Pegg bounce off of. That said, the other actors are really good with the one-way story arcs they are given.
I have always been a Hank Azaria fan. The guy is so likeable that he can play the jerk to perfection. I felt bad for him at times being reduced to acting some of the situations scripted, (the lazily written locker room scene comes to mind), but he is perfect for the role, laying some sharp jabs at the right time and always being genuinely happy to see someone willing to go through a marathon, an obsession of his own, while inwardly laughing at the absurdity of Pegg finishing it. Thandie Newton does well as the woman caught between these two men. With not much to really do, she is still effective in showing the emotional back and forth happening. We also get Harish Patel as Pegg’s Indian landlord and friend, but the role comes off too much as a caricature to really praise, other then a good word for the man playing it. The saving grace to everything, though, is Dylan Moran. Maybe it is because I have begun to watch his fantastic British series “Black Books,” but he warrants a laugh each time he is onscreen. From his relationship with Newton (cousin) and Pegg (best friend), to his gambling lifestyle, to his self-hiring as fitness coach, Moran is absolutely priceless. His dialogue and actions at his cousin’s birthday party are worth seeing the movie by itself. Run Fatboy Run ends up being more for the Farrelly Brothers crowd than the British humor ones. That may actually hurt it being that so many Americans hate English accents and find them hard to understand. Hopefully it will find its audience, though, because despite its watered-down execution, any way to get UK faces like Pegg and Moran some time in the Hollywood limelight is a good thing. I just wish they’d market it for what it is, a comedy by David Schwimmer, not a new masterpiece from the people that brought us a couple of modern-day classics. It’s funny and it’s entertaining for an evening out, but it’s not necessarily something I’d seek out to see again…well except the race at the end, some real good stuff does go on there.
